Originally I had purchased this hair product from a small shop in Chinatown in NYC as a temporary solution to running out of styling wax. After the first use, it has become a favorite of mine.

I chose the "medium" strength because I hate having product that turns hair into porcupine needles. At the same time, it has enough hold that people with shorter hair can style and restyle their hair throughout the day and not lose its composure. This product works a lot better than most waxes/pomades that I have used, and I have used many.

Another thing is that it washes out quite easily, unlike other waxes. A quick rinse under the sink (if you're in a hurry) will usually do the trick. It does not leave heavy residue in your hair.

My only complaint is that the product is really only available online or in Asian grocery stores/shops. The price here might be a bit higher than it should be. Nevertheless, I felt it worthwhile to pay for a superior product. 4...Read more

I have bought garnier wax, and other gatsby waxes in different colors but this is by far the best one and by far has the best smell. Other waxes have a funky smell when they dry up but this doesn't. This is also very mild with no shine and non waxy feeling. It looks as if I didn't apply anything yet it holds my wavy hair in place. I love it.

I had been looking for anything which would hold and not be sticky, stiff, or make my hair feel like I'd dipped my head in tub of molten plastic. Gatsby perfect hold is just that product, I was concerned having read other reviews that claimed it was difficult to wash out, however I have not found that to be the case. My one and only complaint is I need to have my hair cut slightly longer than I normally would to use this product. When it's shorter the hold isn't quite as good as I would like without using more product than I should have to. Overall though I am very impressed.
