I have extremely dry skin all year around but it's even worse in the winter. It's so bad that I often get flaking on my face! I have used a facial steamer for many years, and my old one was taking a long time to heat up (generate steam). So, I decided to purchase a new steamer.

With a small amount of water (it comes with a measuring cup), it heats up in less than one minute. I like the wider opening (my old steamer had a much smaller opening which sometimes caused you to not be able to breathe because the steam was so concentrated). This steamer does a great job on my dry skin - I only have to use it for 5 or 10 minutes once a week and it works better than any lotion or creme.

I borrowed a face steamer from a friend several times and really liked it so I decided to get my own. This one looked similar to hers and it was cheap so I ordered one. It seems pretty sturdy but the shield part is so wide that it's basically drafty in there when you are trying to steam. Even with a towel over my head, I couldn't get it hot and steamy enough for my satisfaction. Little drafts of cold air come in the sides when you breath. If you have a gigantic head, maybe this will work great for you. Otherwise, I would purchase a steamer with a smaller shield.

I was this close to buying the facial steamer by Kas when I learned that the product was no longer being made. So I figure that it would be a better idea to get something more up to date?

I would give this a 4 1/2 stars, in fact. The steamer is very user-friendly. And I have noticed that my face feels much softer and radiant w/ its use! I also breathe much better as it moistens the sinuses. The only reason why I didn't give it a 5 is because even w/ the wide mask, I have to turn my head for to get good cheek exposure. Other than that, it's great!
